France in Africa

I love the line "did not want to create a crisis in Franco-American relations over a country regarded to have little strategic interest".
Like the Franco-American relationship is that great anyway. Yeah, it's worth sacrificing a few million people for. Oh wait, if they're in Africa, yes that makes sense. (Heavy sarcasm). Can you believe this?
Well, all I can say is that the Lord isn't a racist, and he isn't an Africa-hater. So he is not going to just wink and say "Well, that's how tough foreign policy decisions must be made."
So this will come back to haunt France and probably the U.S. too, at some point.
