Great short interview

Here is a great interview with Eugene Peterson about various topics. It's short, but poignant.

He really has some insight into some of the American church's problems!

Hey Rob,

I liked the last long paragraph of what Peterson had to say. The C.S. Lewis Institute is here in the DC area. On your page at the church website, you mentioned liking a biography of St. Francis of Assisi. I have a cursory knowledge of St. Francis, and I recently re-watched a movie about him that I saw a while back, called "Brother Sun, Sister Moon." It made me want to read more. The film was directed by Franco Zeffirelli, who directed the excellent miniseries "Jesus of Nazareth." If you're ever able to find a copy, I'd recommend it. I did find it moving, although it's easier to sentimentalize St. Francis than to embrace what he embraced. The movie was released in 1972, and you can kind of detect that culture in its sensibilities, especially the folk song soundtrack that might strike some as too cheesy, but I kind of liked it, especially the melody of the main song. I've read there are some inaccuracies, but the actor who played Francis left an impression on me, but he didn't go on to many other acting gigs. Sir Alec Guinness plays Pope Innocent III in a moving scene. The film covers Francis' early life until the founding of the Franciscan Order, but even after all these years, I've heard Zeffirelli plans to do a sequel to cover Francis' later life.
